The UNC basketball program has landed the big they were vying for!

On Friday afternoon, Arizona transfer Henri Veesaar announced his commitment to the UNC basketball program. He will have two seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining.

Veesaar officially entered the transfer portal on March 31, as North Carolina was quickly linked as a team to watch in his recruitment. Now, it appears that there is a very strong mutual interest between the two sides, as the Tar Heels made it a priority to get him on campus before the dead period came into effect.

A 7-footer from Tallin, Estonia, Veesaar spent his first two collegiate seasons at Arizona. Although he only started five games this past season, Veesaar's production took a massive leap during his sophomore season. He averaged 9.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, showcasing his versatility by adding an additional 1.3 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest.

Don't let his size fool you: Veesaar can shoot the basketball. He can stretch the floor a bit, coming off a season in which he knocked down 16 of his 49 attempts from three-point range, and has proven to be an effective player in the pick-and-roll game.

North Carolina needed to add size and athleticism this offseason, two things that Veesaar can bring to the table. While there have been quite a few big man options on the market, it always felt like Veesaar was the guy the Tar Heels coveted from the jump.

The Tar Heels still have plenty of work to do, especially at the point guard position. However, locking up a commitment from Veesaar is a MAJOR move for the UNC basketball program's offseason agenda, as the desperate need for a true big man has now been address.

Now, we'll wait and see how the rest of the roster shapes up.
