The UNC basketball program is honing in on the prospects from the Class of 2026 that they really like. Their latest offer was extended to Dylan Mingo, a five-star guard from Glen Head, New York.

Mingo is listed as a 6-foot-5, 180-pound point guard. He is viewed by 247Sports Composite as a five-star player, ranked No. 9 overall in the 2026 class. An elite scoring guard, Mingo is also ranked as the top overall prospect from the state of New York.

In the early portion of the Nike EYBL Circuit, Mingo has been absolutely balling. He's currently averaging 18.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.5 steals, showcasing his ability to impact the game in a variety of ways.

North Carolina isn't alone in this particular recruitment. Mingo has previously earned offers from the likes of Alabama, Cincinnati, Dayton, Florida State, Illinois, Missouri, Old Dominion, Ole Miss, Providence, St. John's, Texas, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech, and most recently picked up an offer from Pat Kelsey and the Louisville Cardinals.

It's pretty safe to say that there could be more offers on the way in the near future.

In recent interviews, Mingo has indicated that his sole purpose this summer is to play his best brand of basketball on the Nike EYBL Circuit. He wants to prove that he is much more than just an elite scoring threat.

"To be honest I want to show that I can do more than just score the ball. I can be a real point guard and I can control the team. I'm really focusing on giving 100% effort and really working on my jump shot."

Additionally, Mingo is in no rush to trim his list of suitors, indicating that he will take a closer look at his options in the fall.

Now that the UNC basketball program has officially thrown their hat into the ring, expect Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels staff to start putting an emphasis on luring this top-tier talent to Chapel Hill. Given his size and skill set, Mingo could be a tremendous fit in the style of play that Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels want to utilize.
