Just a few days ago, Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program extended an offer to Class of 2026 standout Tajh Ariza, the son of former NBA veteran Trevor Ariza.

Now, the Tar Heels are pursing another student-athlete whose father played a long career in the National Basketball Association.

On social media, four-star wing Bryson Howard announced that he has received an offer from the UNC basketball program. Howard is the son of 10-year NBA veteran Josh Howard, a former Wake Forest standout who went on to be the No. 29 overall pick in the 2003 draft.

Bryson Howard is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound wing from Frisco, Texas. He is currently viewed as a four-star prospect, ranking No. 28 overall in 247Sports' latest Class of 2026 projections, along with being considered the No. 2 overall prospect from the state of Texas.

Offers have been flying in as of late, joining a long line of suitors who already have been in the mix. Since June 13, these schools have extended offers his way:

Maryland
Michigan
Duke
UConn
Virginia
Rutgers
Kentucky
North Carolina

It's important to note that the teams listed above aren't alone in this recruitment. Howard is pushing near 20 offers to his name, including one from his father's alma mater, as more offers could definitely be coming his way as his recruitment heats up.

Adam Finkelstein, the Director of Scouting at 247Sports, believes Howard has a world of potential both on and off the ball:

"Howard is an athletic southpaw wing with good positional size, a high-motor, and terrific frame that is undoubtedly going to continue filling out. He attacks the rim, getting downhill in the open court and playing through contact. He rises up to finish and is a lob threat. He also has a translatable shooting stroke and has even shown some flashes of being able to make movement shots. Defensively, he’s engaged and excels with his court coverage. There’s still room for him to clean up some of his angles, but he has a world of potential both on and off the ball."

The UNC basketball program has been active on the recruiting trail, looking to identify potential fits in both the Class of 2026 and 2027. For the 2026 class, adding an athletic wing like Howard would be a strong addition, especially considering the team's potential need at the position beyond this upcoming season.
