Some milestones are ones we typically wouldn't think about. However, when you have someone like Steve Kirschner running your athletic communications efforts, everything is tracked!

Ahead of the UNC basketball program's CBS Sports Classic duel with Ohio State, the Tar Heels have an opportunity to reach a rather impressive team milestone. In fact, it's a streak that has lasted nearly 30 seasons!

Well, what is it, you ask?

All ya need is one

As per Kirschner, one made three-pointer on Saturday afternoon will mark the 1,000th consecutive game in which the UNC basketball program has made at least one three-pointer. You'd have to go all the way back to 1997 to find the last time the Tar Heels failed to connect on a three pointer.

Based on the data, the streak should continue

Through 11 games, this UNC basketball team has knocked down at least eight three-pointers on 9 separate occasions.

Their season low was four, a game in which they struggled mightily offensively in a loss to Michigan State. Even on a bad night, the Tar Heels were able to put the ball in the basket beyond the three-point line at least once.

No one is trying to jinx it, but the data seems to indicate that this shouldn't be a problem for this year's team, a unit that has the ability to shoot the basketball at a high rate.

Who will be the guy to extend the streak?

Honestly, there are quite a few options to look at.

You can go with guys like Kyan Evans or Luka Bogavac, given they both have elite-level shooting ability. Caleb Wilson, although not known for that aspect of his game, can step beyond-the-arc and knock down shots as well.

If Seth Trimble is able to return for this game, he could be an option too. If the first unit struggles, you might just see Jonathan Powell or Derek Dixon be the first one to knock down a three-pointer.

While all these options are intriguing, we're going to say Henri Veesaar is going to be the guy to get the job done.
