Former UNC baseball star Michael Busch got his first taste of MLB Postseason action when the Chicago Cubs hosted the San Diego Padres in game one of the National League Wild Card Series on Tuesday afternoon.

Knowing how big of a day this was for Busch, who put together a career year for the Cubs during the 2025 regular season, the UNC baseball program made sure they were in attendance to support him.

Head coach Scott Forbes and General Manager Carter Hicks were among those who made the trip to Chicago for the game at Wrigley Field. Forbes shared some photos on social media following the Cubs' 3-1 victory over the Padres.

Forbes and Hicks were able to witness history, as Busch became just the fourth Diamond Heel to record a hit in their first MLB playoff game.

Busch joined Walt Weiss (1988), B.J. Surhoff (1996), and most recently Chris Iannetta (2014) among this exclusive list of Diamond Heels.

This just goes to show how deep the Carolina family runs. North Carolina athletics does a tremendous job at supporting its own, whether it's during or well-after their time in Chapel Hill. In what was a huge moment in Michael Busch's professional baseball career was well-supported by his UNC baseball family, as Tuesday's victory will be one that the former Diamond Heels star will remember for quite some time.
