The UNC baseball program gave Tar Heel fans plenty to celebrate throughout its memorable 2026 season.
Now, Carolina faithful will get an opportunity to show them how much their incredible season is appreciated.
UNC to honor the 2026 Diamond Heels College World Series team
Tommy Ashley of Inside Carolina shared the news that the 2026 Diamond Heels will be honored at halftime of Saturday's football game against Notre Dame. This follows North Carolina's run to the College World Series Championship Series just a few months ago.

The @DiamondHeels came up one win short in Omaha and have reloaded for a 2027 run.
Although they fell just one win short of the program's first-ever national title, this group gave Tar Heel fans memories that will last a lifetime. The Diamond Heels did plenty of winning (securing 54 victories), while their insane journey to (and through) Omaha had UNC fans sitting on the edge of their seats whenever they took the field.
Like the 2006 squad, which ironically was celebrating its 20th anniversary this past season, this group put itself in the conversation as the best team the UNC baseball program has ever had.
With a mix of talented returning players and a handful of newcomers (both true freshmen and key transfer additions), Scott Forbes and his staff built a roster few programs could match. It's not every day you can surround returning talents, such as Jason DeCaro, Gavin Gallaher, and Ryan Lynch (among others), with incredible newcomers such as transfers Jake Schaffner (a first-round pick in the 2026 MLB Draft) and Owen Hull (a second-round pick), along with freshmen stars Caden Glauber and Jackson Rose.
Without a doubt, Tar Heel fans are going to remember some of the key moments, such as DeCaro's complete game shutout in his final start at Boshamer Stadium and Hull's swing that clinched UNC's ticket to Omaha, for a very long time.
Although the 2026 season ended heartbreakingly, the University of North Carolina is wasting no time in giving this group the recognition they deserve. Let's remember: the season came to a close after school concluded for the summer, so campus wasn't full of Tar Heels to give them a proper welcome back party.
It will be cool to see this group during halftime of the UNC football program's game against Notre Dame, but make no mistake: this group will be honored for many years to come.
This is simply the start of it.
