With the start of the 2025 college baseball season just two weeks away, the Atlantic Coast Conference released its annual preseason coaches poll rankings.

After a trip to Omaha a season ago, Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program are projected to finish third among the extremely competitive field of ACC teams.

While the Diamond Heels didn't receive any first place votes, they are just one of four programs to earn 200 or more points. The Tar Heels trail only Virginia and Florida State among this particular ranking, as the conference coaches seem to be higher on the Seminoles than other preseason projections.

For example, D1 Baseball tabbed the Diamond Heels as the No. 6-ranked team in the country leading up to the 2025 season, while Florida State comes in three spots lower at No. 9.

Another example of how rankings can vary, but the main objective stays the same: many around the sport expect the UNC baseball program to be one of the elite teams once again this upcoming season.

2025 ACC Baseball Predicted Order of Finish

  1. Virginia (13) – 251
  2. Florida State (2) – 230
  3. North Carolina – 217
  4. Clemson (1) – 214
  5. Duke – 182
  6. Wake Forest – 171
  7. NC State – 168
  8. Stanford – 143
  9. Louisville – 128
  10. Georgia Tech – 113
  11. Miami – 87
  12. Virginia Tech – 85
  13. California – 60
  14. Pitt – 52
  15. Notre Dame – 44
  16. Boston College - 31

While the Diamond Heels lost a lot of star-studded talent this offseason, Scott Forbes and company did a lot of work to replenish the depth. The Tar Heels have a mix of key returners, impact transfers and some potential newcomers who can contribute right away, as the objective for the Diamond Heels remains the same.

Make it to Omaha and put together a long stay once you get there.
