The UNC baseball is ranked No. 1!
For the first time in the 11 years of D1 Baseball's weekly rankings, the Diamond Heels hold down the top overall spot on the list. They move up two spots following their run to the ACC Tournament title this past weekend in Durham.
While the UNC baseball program was snubbed of a top-four seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, it seems like everyone other than the selection committee values what the Diamond Heels accomplished this season. It goes to show that Auburn, which was ranked a higher seed for the NCAA Tournament, comes in at No. 9 on D1 Baseball's latest top 25 rankings.
We're bias for sure, but these rankings make a lot more sense!
The UNC baseball program put together a tremendous 2025 season, one that has the makings of being far from over. North Carolina has the pieces necessary to not only make it to Omaha but make their stay an extended one, as it wouldn't be a surprise to anyone to see the Tar Heels make a deep postseason run over the next few weeks.
For the Tar Heels, the rankings don't mean much. However, you'd have to think that they'll have a chip on their shoulders heading into NCAA Tournament action, as they'll want to prove to the world that there aren't four teams that are better from them (especially from one conference!).
The UNC baseball program, the No. 1 ranked team in the land by D1 Baseball, begins its NCAA Tournament journey on Friday afternoon when they open up the Chapel Hill Regional with a matchup against No. 4-seeded Holy Cross. First pitch is scheduled for noon eastern time.
