After being ranked No. 6 overall in the previous two D1 Baseball Top 25 rankings, the UNC baseball program has climbed into the top five.

North Carolina now holds the No. 5 spot in the rankings, being the highest-ranked ACC squad among the field. Virginia, who was ranked No. 2 in last week's poll, fell to No. 10 after a 3-3 start to the season.

North Carolina had a strong week on the diamond this past week. They started by defeating Kansas State in a high scoring affair on Tuesday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium. Weather delayed the start of the Diamond Heels' annual three-game set with East Carolina, but the Tar Heels won each of the first two games of the series (with Monday afternoon being the re-scheduled final game of the series).

Now holding a top five ranking, the UNC baseball program has a very busy week ahead. Following their series finale against ECU, the Diamond Heels are scheduled to host VCU and NC A&T on consecutive days beginning on Tuesday. Thursday will be an off day before the Tar Heels begin a three-game set with Stony Brook in Chapel Hill.
