Some programs rebuild.
Others (like the UNC baseball program) reload.
Scott Forbes and the Tar Heels made another massive addition via the transfer portal, securing a commitment from former George Mason outfielder Owen Hull.
I’m excited to announce that I am furthering my academic and baseball career at the University of North Carolina. I am beyond blessed and thankful for my family, coaches, and those who have gotten me to this point in my journey. #GoHeels pic.twitter.com/5NtxsTRcWO

Hull put together a breakout sophomore season at George Mason, becoming the program's everyday right fielder. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder hit .367 on the season, recording 87 hits and eight home runs while driving in 63 runs. Along with stealing an impressive 42 bases (only getting caught six times), Hull came around to score on 83 occasions, as he simply was a nightmare on the base paths for opposing defenses.
While he doesn't get hit by as many pitches as Kane Kepley did, Hull seems to be an ideal candidate to hit near the top of the UNC baseball program's lineup in 2026. While he played primarily right field at George Mason, Hull is a versatile player, having experience at both first base and center field, two positions where he could see playing time.
Hull becomes the seventh transfer that Forbes and the Diamond Heels have hauled in, adding to what already has been an impressive transfer portal haul for the UNC baseball program. It's safe to say that falling just short of a trip to Omaha stings a bit for the Diamond Heels, as the coaching staff has done everything in its power to strengthen the roster, bringing in some elite transfer talent to help bolster the roster along with the players that they already have in the mix.
