After a trip to Omaha a season ago, the belief is that the UNC baseball program will once again be one of the top teams in the country this upcoming season.

New year, same expectations for Scott Forbes and the UNC baseball program leading up to the 2025 season.

While the standards remain high in Chapel Hill, there's plenty around the sport that believe the Diamond Heels will remain one of the country's top teams.

On Monday, D1 Baseball released its preseason top 25 poll. The UNC baseball program was ranked No. 6 overall, serving as the second highest ranked ACC team (only trailing No. 2-ranked Virginia).

The Atlantic Coast Conference is expected to be loaded once again this season, as seven teams from the conference are ranked among the preseason top 15. It goes to show just how strong the ACC is and how well-respected its become by the media.

North Carolina will have quite a different look this season, as the likes of Vance Honeycutt, Casey Cook and Dalton Pence (among others) have departed Chapel Hill. However, Scott Forbes and his staff have brought in some very good reinforcements to help fill the roster voids, as the current mix of returners and newcomers should make plenty of noise at Boshamer Stadium all season long.

From Jason DeCaro leading the pitching staff to Luke Stevenson being considered one of the top potential players for the 2025 MLB Draft, this roster is built for another postseason run. Now, after getting a taste of Omaha a season ago, this new-look group will look to make it consecutive seasons in which the Diamond Heels earn a spot in the College World Series.
