The UNC baseball program closed out the 2025 regular season in style, securing a series victory on the road over then-ranked No. 2 Florida State.
Heading into postseason play, the Diamond Heels have earned their best D1 Baseball ranking in quite some time.
The Diamond Heels come in at No. 3 in the final top 25 rankings of the regular season, moving up one spot from last week. It marks their highest ranking since they were ranked No. 3 for the week of March 4, 2019.
North Carolina has positioned itself nicely leading up to this week's ACC Tournament in Durham. The Tar Heels secured a double-bye, as they will not have to play until Friday night's quarterfinal round. They await their next opponent but know it could be a trio of teams: Boston College, Notre Dame, or Virginia.
Looking ahead, the Diamond Heels are also a serious contender to be a national seed for the College World Series, meaning that they would host regionals and, should they advance, Super Regionals at Boshamer Stadium.
It's been quite the season for Scott Forbes and the Diamond Heels. Following last season's trip to Omaha, you could make the case that this year's squad is even better, as this team has aspirations of making a very deep postseason run over the next few weeks.
Before we get to that point, the Tar Heels aim to win three games in a row, securing an ACC Tournament title. While it won't be easy, the UNC baseball program has the depth to make it happen, as stellar pitching and timely hitting have been the keys to success for this talented group.
