The UNC baseball program continues to roll, capping off an extremely busy week of action with a three-game sweep over Stony Brook.

North Carolina remains one of the country's handful of teams who have yet to be beaten. The hope is that the current win streak can carry on for quite some time.

Here's a breakdown of all the action that occurred at Boshamer Stadium this weekend:

Game 1

The offense stole the show in game one, as two big innings propelled the Diamond Heels to a series opening win.

North Carolina wasted no time getting on the board. A Gavin Gallaher RBI single in the first inning broke the early scoreless tie. An inning later, Perry Hargett, who homered in his UNC baseball debut earlier in the week, blasted another home run, making him the first Tar Heel to hit home runs in back-to-back at-bats since...

Vance Honeycutt (who accomplished the feat last season).

That No. 7 must be a number of fortune for Diamond Heel outfielders!

Luke Stevenson roped an RBI double to extend the Tar Heels lead to 3-0. Jumping to the bottom of the fourth inning, North Carolina's offense broke the game open for good with a five-run inning.

While they didn't necessarily need it, the Diamond Heels had PLENTY of offense left in the tank. In their final at-bats in the bottom half of the eighth inning, the Diamond Heels scored eight, yes, eight, runs to cap off a 16 run performance.

Jason DeCaro made his third start of the season and was as good as advertised. The right-hander pitched into the eighth inning, allowing just one run on four hits over 7.2 innings of work.Tom Chmielewski made his UNC baseball debut in relief, while Boston Flannery came into the game to close the door in the ninth.

Game 2

While the offense continued to produce, the Diamond Heels pitching was the focal point on Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.

The combination of Jake Knapp (five innings, one run allowed), Ryan Lynch (three shutout innings) and Matthew Matthijs (scoreless ninth inning) combined to strike out 17 Stony Brook hitters. To add to that impressive stat, they only walked two batters throughout the game, as the pitching staff did a tremendous job limiting the unnecessary traffic on the base paths.

Offensively, Hunter Stokley continued his hot start to the 2025 season, crushing yet another opposite field homer. Serving as the designated hitter, Luke Stevenson also contributed two hits, including a home run of his own. Jackson Van De Brake had a strong day at the plate as well, recording three hits while reaching base in all four of his plate appearances.

Game 3

There wasn't much offense through the first four and a half innings of play, but both offenses woke up after that point.

Fortunately, the Diamond Heels put together more runs than their counterpart.

North Carolina scored eight runs over their final four offensive innings, led by a four-run fifth frame, to pull away with a 9-5 victory.

The score doesn't indicate how good Aidan Haugh was on the mound. The right-hander pitched into the seventh inning, allowing just two runs on four hits. He struck out eight, picking up his second victory of the early season.

The big swing of the game came off the bat of Tyson Bass. With the Tar Heels holding onto a 7-5 lead, just a half inning after Stony Brook scored three runs of their own, Bass crushed a two-run homer to give the Diamond Heels a cushion that helped them secure the series sweep.

What's Next

The UNC baseball program has another busy week ahead. They welcome Coastal Carolina to Boshamer Stadium for a single non-conference game, and will follow that by hosting College of Charleston on Wednesday.

Conference play begins for the Diamond Heels this weekend, as Stanford, a new addition to the ACC, comes to Chapel Hill for a three-game set over the
