Fans are eagerly awaiting the day that Caleb Wilson puts on the North Carolina Blue and steps on the court for the first time for a regular season game. The 6-foot-9 big man should immediately provide depth in the front court and excel as another big body on the defensive boards and with rim protection.
With Wilson's length, frame and natural talent at the all-too young age of 18, it's no surprise that projected NBA lottery teams are salivating over the opportunity to add him to their roster as soon as possible with the expectation that he'll continue to develop into a versatile front-court star.

That's why several 2026 NBA Draft mocks have Wilson as a lottery pick and most have him inside the Top 10. ESPN's first 2026 mock had Wilson going at No. 8, but that was a couple of months ago. It will probably be updated over the weekend.
On3 has Wilson going ninth overall and FanSided has Wilson slotted at No. 11. The scouting reports from most sites seem to be consistent. Wilson should offer plenty of immediate help on the rim and several other areas as a true freshman next season.
Caleb Wilson is the centerpiece of Hubert Davis' 2026 recruiting class
Wilson is the highest-rated prospect to come into the UNC program since Hubert Davis took over as head coach. In the composite rankings, Wilson is the fifth-best player in the nation and third-best projected power forward. He was joined in the Tar Heels recruiting class by fall signees Isaiah Denis and Derek Dixon.
Davis welcomed all three freshmen to campus this week and had the following to say about Wilson.
""We are ecstatic to have Caleb here at Carolina. He is an unbelievable talent. His length, athleticism and versatility allow him to dominate on both ends of the floor. He loves being a great teammate, is competitive and comes from an unbelievable family. Carolina fans will love him and this entire freshman class.""Hubert Davis to GoHeels.com
