Four of the top prospects in the nation joined the North Carolina Tar Heels this spring, including five-star power forward Caleb Wilson, the No. 5 recruit in the country.

Now that summer practice sessions are underway, it didn't take long for Wilson to make his presence known. In a recent video of a Tar Heels practice, Wilson blew through the defense and easily elevated for a two-handed dunk... not too shabby for an 18-year-old.

Of course, expectations are always high for a five-star prospect, especially one who joins the winningest college basketball program of all time. However, this time around, the pressure is a little higher as the Tar Heels have struggled to find consistency under head coach Hubert Davis.

The addition of Wilson could be exactly what North Carolina needs to right the ship and storm through the ACC once again.

Wilson wasn't the only blue-chip prospect to join the Tar Heels this offseason. Davis also added four-star combo guard Derek Dixon, four-star point guard Isaiah Denis, and unrated combo guard Luka Bogavac, who is from Montenegro.

Davis also brought in a fairly respectable transfer portal class, including four four-star and one three-star transfers.

UNC Tar Heels 2025 transfer portal class

  • Jarin Stevenson, four-star power forward, Alabama
  • Jonathan Powell, four-star shooting guard, West Virginia
  • Kyan Evans, four-star point guard, Colorado State
  • Henri Veesaar, four-star power forward, Arizona
  • Jaydon Young, three-star shooting guard, Virginia Tech

Davis' recruiting and transfer portal classes are still a far cry from the top-tier products that the Tar Heels have grown so used to over the last few decades. However, adding nearly a dozen blue-chip prospects is never a bad thing, and for right now, it's a step in the right direction.
