The hype around five-star freshman forward Caleb Wilson is already sky-high, but UNC basketball legend Tyler Hansbrough took that hype up a whole notch.
On his appearance on the Locked On Tar Heels Podcast, hosted by Isaac Schade, 'Psycho T,' one of, if not the greatest player in UNC basketball history, had quite the comparison for Wilson, one that connects the current Tar Heel to another former freshman phenom who came to Chapel Hill, played a big role on a national championship squad and ended up being the No. 2 overall selection in the NBA Draft.

Hansbrough compared Wilson to Marvin Williams, an elite talent who still found a way to be a top-two NBA Draft pick while not starting a single game during his brief college career. The UNC basketball program's all-time leading scorer believes Wilson has the type of talent that Williams possessed as a true freshman at North Carolina, citing how this year's squad has Final Four potential if all the pieces click together.
"When I think big picture, I think for this team to reach their ceiling, it's going to depend upon Caleb Wilson and his ability to really grow," Hansbrough said. "Because I think he's a player that plays just like Marvin Williams. I think he's a player that has that type of talent."
"I think if he develops, we have a guy we can give the ball to at any position on the court, and he can score," Hansbrough added. "I think big picture, if we're talking about what this team's capable of doing, I would not rule out a final four run if this team reaches its ceiling. And I know it's very optimistic and when I say big picture, I'm talking about everything gelling together the way it could happen."
Tar Heel fans can only hope that Wilson can be a superstar, similar to what they saw from Williams many years ago. If Wilson lives up to his potential, not only will he be in line to be the next lottery pick to come out of the University of North Carolina, but he'll lead the charge in the UNC basketball program's quest to hang another national championship banner this season.
