On Halloween night, the UNC basketball program received some great news regarding the eligibility status of Georgia Tech transfer Ty Claude.

Just about a week ago, news surfaced that there were some issues with his eligibility status. This forced the newcomer to miss both of the UNC basketball program's exhibition contests, which is big considering that the minutes he would have logged would've helped him prepare for the upcoming season.

Fortunately, this isn't a Tez Walker type of case that lingers into the regular season, as Claude has been cleared to play just days before the start of the 2024-2025 season.

The Goldsboro, North Carolina native has had quite the college journey up to this point, as he's been at three different schools thus far. He started his career at Morehead State and, unfortunately, dealt with injuries during his three years on campus.

From there, Claude transferred to Western Carolina, where he had a breakout season, averaging 15.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest. After just one season at Western Carolina, Claude once again transferred and joined the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, where he averaged 4.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in a role off the bench.

Now, the Tar Heels hope that Claude can provide some front court depth. His ability to rebound the basketball will be extra important, especially considering the UNC basketball program's mentality of "all hands on deck" in this area.

The good news is that the UNC basketball program can put this behind them as they prepare for their season opener on November 4.
