Did Bundalo's recent visit to Chapel Hill help the UNC basketball program advance in his recruitment?

Following his official visit to North Carolina this past weekend, top-30 prospect Niko Bundalo has narrowed his recruitment to four programs.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have made the list of finalists, joining UConn, Michigan State and Ohio State among the schools still in the mix. Programs, such as Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Xavier, Texas, and Kansas were all originally in the mix but are now ruled out of contention.

With the current state of recruiting, it's very difficult to get a grasp of what student-athletes are thinking through the recruiting process. In this case, it's a really good sign to see Bundalo including North Carolina among his finalists, especially given that the Tar Heels were the last of the remaining finalists to host Bundalo for an official visit.

When breaking down his current recruitment with Joe Tipton of On3, Bundalo had some great things to say about the Tar Heels:

“Me and coach Davis have built a relationship over these past few months to where I feel like I can talk to him and let him know anything. He’s been a really, really good recruiter for me. He’s really been the main guy recruiting me so when the dude running the team is the main one recruiting you, it’s hard not to trust him. Me and coach Davis have had some really, really meaningful conversations. He actually saw me at youth camp when I was younger, in the 8th grade. It’s an unbelievable program and he’s an unbelievable guy and an unbelievable coaching staff.”

Hubert Davis seems to have really loved Niko Bundalo's game from a very young age, dating back to before the now four-star recruit made a name for himself at the high school level. Now, Davis and the UNC basketball program hope that Bundalo decides to call Chapel Hill his home, as his skillset would be a tremendous match for the system that the Tar Heels love to operate.
