The UNC women's basketball program's homecoming ended up being a very good one.

For the first time since November 6, the Tar Heels played in front of the Carmichael Arena faithful and didn't disappoint, rolling to a blowout victory over UNC Greensboro in non-conference action.

Right out of the gate, North Carolina made life extremely difficult for the Spartans on both ends of the floor. Building a double-digit lead in the first quarter, North Carolina limited UNC Greensboro to just three shots made over the first 10 minutes of play, one which was a half-court buzzer-beater to end the frame.

That early lead the Tar Heels built would just keep growing as the night went on.

In the first half, North Carolina connected on 63% of its shots from the floor, as the Tar Heels were raining threes for the second consecutive ball game.

It remained status quo in the second half, as North Carolina finished the night shooting over 60% from the field.

Ciera Toomey's big-time performance

Ciera Toomey is making the most of her extended opportunities this season, putting together a career-outing on Sunday night.

The redshirt sophomore put together an offensive clinic, connecting on 9-12 shots from the floor en route to a career-high 19 points. She did a great job of filling up the stat sheet as well, recording seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals to cap off an outstanding effort.

Other Key Performances

Nyla Brooks continues to thrive in her role off the bench, scoring 18 points while connecting on all seven of her shots from the floor. Elina Aarnisalo had another strong outing, scoring 13 points while adding four rebounds and one assist.

Taliyah Henderson continues to showcase her elite motor, scoring 13 points while adding three steals and two rebounds. For someone who missed a significant portion of the end of her high school career, Henderson sure is making the most of her early experience at the collegiate ranks.

Overall, 10 Tar Heels who saw game action scored at least once, showing how balanced the scoring effort was in this win. It's also impressive how seven different Tar Heels connected on at least one three-pointer.

Key injury notes

The UNC women's basketball program was once again without Blanca Thomas and Taissa Queiroz, both of whom have been sidlined due to injury.

Another notable player was sidelined for this one- senior forward Nyla Harris, who the broadcast stated was being held out as a "coach's decision."

The hope is that all three will be ready for action when the Tar Heels hit the road later this week.

What's Next?

Courtney Banghart and the UNC women's basketball program now head to Cancun, Mexico, for a three-day event, one in which they will play on three consecutive days against South Dakota State, Kansas State, and Columbia, starting on Thanksgiving morning.
