Seth Trimble may not have heard his name called in the 2026 NBA Draft, but he's still looked at as one of the top undrafted free agents still remaining. Whichever NBA team eventually signs Trimble will be getting a bargain, but there's one team where the fit seems almost natural.
In this year's draft, the Boston Celtics addressed some needs in selecting Chris Cenac Jr. and Dillon Mitchell, giving them some frontcourt depth and a little more athleticism in the paint. But Boston still needs to bolster guard rotation and bench depth, and that's where Seth Trimble could be their perfect answer.
Trimble actually had a visit with the Celtics for a pre-draft evaluation, and he also got some notice from the Celtics during his G-League Combine performance.
The Celtics reportedly worked out UNC G Seth Trimble.

Boston's early exit from the playoffs this season exposed a few weaknesses that Philadelphia was able to exploit in their first round victory, and adding a two-way player like Trimble is a step towards patching one of those holes.
Why Seth Trimble and the Celtics make a perfect pairing
As a combo guard, Trimble would bring some versatility to the Celtics rotation and his defensive upside has to be a consideration as Boston continues to build around strong defense and physicality. He would fit right into head coach Joe Mazzulla's defensive schemes.
Playing alongside stars like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White would unlock a lot of Trimble's potential too, especially in the 3-point shooting game, an area where he needs to find his stroke. Tatum's perimeter game would be a good example for Trimble.
But it's sharpshooter Sam Hauser that could really help open up Trimble's game. During the 2025–26 NBA season, Hauser shot 39.3 percxent from beyond the arc, averaging 2.5 made threes per game.
The only downside for Trimble would be battling Brown and White for some minutes, but Mazzulla and Boston have successfully developed some former role players like Marcus Smart and Derrick White - Trimble might actually be even less of a project.
Some are projecting Trimble to the Pacers, or even the Hawks as added guard depth, but landing in Boston would be the most beneficial to both the team and to Trimble's development.
Regardless of who signs Trimble -- and it's almost a given that someone will -- he'll find a way to make the most of his game, but playing in Boston could see him develop into a true NBA star.
