While nothing tops a North Carolina win, a close second is the misfortune of the Duke Blue Devils. Although UNC still needs to hire a new head coach, at least they do not have the choke artist formerly known as Jon Scheyer at the helm of their program. Scheyer has won a lot since taking over for his mentor Mike Krzyzewski, but North Carolina has won more of late with Roy Williams and Hubert Davis.
Over the last 11 years, North Carolina has made more of its opportunities than Duke has going away.

But One program thinks they are the superior program
Yes, over the last 11 years, North Carolina eclipses Duke in three major statistics. It has won a national title more recently than the Blue Devils last did in 2015. The Tar Heels have made it to the Final Four three times to Duke's two over that span. Moreover, when North Carolina gets to a Final Four, it does not mess around and gets to the national championship. Duke is in utter shambles now.
So what does it really mean for North Carolina moving forward, and can this good luck be sustained?
North Carolina has better Final Four history over Duke in the last decade
From a bird's eye view, this has to be frustrating for both parties, albeit for totally different reasons. For Duke, the Blue Devils have simply not taken care of business in the latter parts of March and into April as much as they should have. Duke is every bit the blue blood, blessed with so many resources, but it just cannot seem to make it happen when it matters most. North Carolina loves to see Duke fail.
As for the Tar Heels, while they do seem to take advantage of their opportunities when they present themselves, the resources have come and gone. Not to say that they would come to Chapel Hill, but imagine if North Carolina had Duke's level of talent, year in and year out. How much wider would the gap be? Exactly. That is why North Carolina has to ace its next hire in the wake of Davis failing here.
If North Carolina gets it right and lands it next Roy Williams or Dean Smith, then there is a chance that Scheyer may not win a national championship at his alma mater for the foreseeable future. Whether it be Tommy Lloyd at Arizona, Billy Donovan of the Chicago Bulls, or somebody else that we are not expecting, the Tar Heels have to take advantage of this real opportunity to get ahead and stay there.
So at this time, the last 11 seasons for Duke and North Carolina are over with and have been judged.
