Caleb Wilson celebrated in true UNC style after Duke's meltdown vs. UConn

Caleb Wilson undeniably earned his North Carolina card for how hard he laughed at Duke's loss.

Schadenfreude is a beautiful thing, is it not? Even though the North Carolina Tar Heels' season ended early last week, nothing gets a UNC fan more excited than seeing arch rival Duke fall in catastrophic fashion. That was precisely the case when Jon Scheyer's team had a mental meltdown for the ages vs. the UConn Huskies in the Elite Eight. He may be off to the NBA, but Caleb Wilson was loving this!

He commented on teammate Seth Trimble's Instagram post with "Go Huskies" and three sad emojis.

There are examples of teams ripping defeat away from the jaws of victory, and then there is whatever Duke put forth on Sunday evening vs. UConn. The Blue Devils were up by double-digits heading into halftime. Slowly but surely, Dan Hurley's team did not give up. The Huskies clawed their way back into striking distance. Then, the worst sequence imaginable happened for Duke. Wilson was all about this.

Instead of Duke going to the Final Four to play Illinois, it will be UConn representing the East Region.

Caleb Wilson had way too much fun at Duke's expense after Elite Eight loss

While Scheyer will be back next season, the fine folks over in Durham have to wonder if something is up with their head coach. Scheyer was handpicked to be the successor to his mentor Mike Krzyzewski a few years back. Despite having all the talent in the world seemingly at his disposal, Scheyer has quickly developed a bad reputation into being a bit of a choke artist at the helm of Duke.

Right now, UNC still needs to find its next head coach. With guys like Dusty May and Ben McCollum having seemingly said no, it looks like it will be either Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd or Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan leading the way in Chapel Hill next year. Wilson may be off to the NBA now, probably to play for the Sacramento Kings in most estimations, but he will always be a Tar Heel.

At this time, Wilson's reaction to Duke's demise is what college sports are all about. Even if we live in a world where players transfer at the first sign of adversity, hating your rival teams makes the games mean that much more. While guys like Wilson may end up playing with some of them at the next level at the various stages of his blossoming career, he is never going to forget this pathetic loss for Duke.

Wilson may have a broken thumb, but he would have made a better pass than Cayden Boozer did...
