The UNC football program is set to lose their star linebacker to the transfer portal

After a breakout sophomore season, this UNC football standout will look to continue his collegiate career elsewhere.

Well, the UNC football program has taken its first big hit in the transfer portal.

Star linebacker Amare Campbell plans to enter the transfer portal as he looks to continue his collegiate career elsewhere. Campbell is coming off a breakout sophomore season and will serve as a major loss for the UNC football program's defensive unit.

Helping to fill the void left by the departure of Cedric Gray, Campbell proved he was more than ready to take on the role. Campbell finished the season with 72 tackles to go along with 6.5 sacks, as he was also credited with 22 quarterback pressures.

When looking at the current landscape of the UNC football program's roster, Campbell was one of the five players we felt the Tar Heels must find a way to keep around. Now, they'll be looking to replace their star linebacker once the new head coach of the program gets put into place.
