The UNC football program did what they were expected to do on Saturday afternoon: dominate an FCS school that traveled to them for some non-conference action.

North Carolina picked up its first home victory of the season (and the first of the Bill Belichick era) in style, riding a 41-6 victory over the visiting Richmond Spiders.

The Tar Heels are still very much a work in progress, but there are some good takeaways from this tune up. For starters, Demon June is a man on a mission, having a career day with 148 rushing yards and his first career touchdown.

Fans of the UNC football program hope that more big games like this are in this true freshman's future.

The defense had some bright moments, especially in some tough situations. They found a way to make a stop on fourth and goal at the one-yard line, a scenario that served as a fantastic game experience for a unit that has a lot of new pieces.

Mikai Gbayor had quite the day, forcing a fumble that he ultimately returned for a score.

Jordan Shipp had his first multi touchdown game of his college career, the Tar Heels nearly ran for 200 yards and the defense made life difficult for a Richmond offense that already has struggled through the early portion of the season.

Sure, it wasn't perfect (which the score definitely doesn't indicate), it was another good tune up for Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels as they look to start building momentum as ACC play rapidly approaches.

Following the loss to TCU, the UNC football program has strung together back-to-back victories over Charlotte and Richmond. Now, they hope to make it three in a row when they travel to UCF for their final non-conference game on the schedule.

North Carolina did exactly what it needed to do: take care of business on its home field.
