Can you believe it- we're just a few weeks away from the start of the 2025 season for the UNC baseball program!
The 2024 season is one that fans will remember fondly, as the Diamond Heels made their first trip to Omaha since 2018. Now, Scott Forbes and the Tar Heels hope to make another trip there this season, as the regular season schedule they will face has officially been released.
North Carolina opens up the 2025 season on February 14, as they'll host Texas Tech for a three-game series at Boshamer Stadium. That series will start what is expected to be a very competitive schedule for the UNC baseball program to have to manuever.
Some interesting tidbits from the schedule release:
-North Carolina will play 22 games against teams that made it to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
-The Diamond Heels have 39 games scheduled against teams that finished in the Diamond Sports Top 100 rankings (23 of those against top-40 squads).
-A total of 43 games will be against teams that D1Baseball views as top 100 teams
Wow.
Home field advantage will be key, especially early on. Four of the Diamond Heels first six ACC series will be held at the Bosh, while the Tar Heels will be on the road for three of their final four conference series to close out the regular season.
Needless to say, the UNC baseball program will be tested, but they are more than ready for the challenges that are ahead.
The Diamond Heels will have a different look this year, as some major contributors departed Chapel Hill (whether via the MLB Draft or due to exhausting their eligibility). However, Scott Forbes and crew have replenished the roster, as this group has more than enough talent to once again make a deep postseason run this upcoming season.
