Making a special appearance on ESPN's "First Take," Dybantsa announced his decision. The No. 1-ranked prospect in the Class of 2025 is heading to BYU, a move that shouldn't really surprise anyone.

Throughout the process, BYU has been viewed as the presumed "favorite," given the logistics of the situation. Additionally, the reported NIL package that BYU put together makes him the highest-paid college basketball player in the early NIL era.

Leading up to his decision, no one was truly 100% certain of which way it would go. In fact, Alabama and North Carolina were seen by some as being firmly in the mix, but in the end, BYU came out the winner in this sweepstakes.

For the UNC basketball program, missing out on Dybantsa is a difficult one. With only two players committed in the Class of 2025, both of whom are guards, the Tar Heels needed to secure a top-flight talent to add to this class, one that is currently very underwhelming given the program's need for frontcourt depth.

Don't get it twisted: North Carolina made a strong effort to lure Dybantsa to Chapel Hill. In fact, you can make the case that they did just about as much as they could to sway him to play his college basketball at North Carolina.

However, it simply wasn't enough, as the UNC basketball program will now shift its focus elsewhere to see who they can add to their 2025 recruiting class before its all said and done.

Don't be surprised if the Tar Heels make landing five-star forward Caleb Wilson a top priority now given this news.
