As the 2025-2026 season rapidly approaches, one of the major concerns for the UNC basketball program has been surrounding the status of international transfer Luka Bogavac.
We all figured the hold up was the NCAA on this matter, but Hubert Davis provided a rather shocking update when he spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon.
Asked about Luka Bogavac's eligibility, Hubert Davis says UNC has gotten clearance from the NCAA and is "working on" things from the university end.

Will he play vs. BYU on Friday? "Possibly."
Davis said that North Carolina has received clearance from the NCAA, but the holdup apparently is on the university's end.
According to Inside Carolina, the athletic department and the university are working to finalize the process, and there is no timetable for completion. Bogavac's status to play on Friday night in the team's exhibition game is still in question.
The good news is that the NCAA cleared Bogavac. Given his resume of playing professionally overseas, it's never a sure thing to see the NCAA clear student-athletes to compete. This process, which has been ongoing since the end of May, is now another step closer to the finish line.
However...
Who knows what the deal is on the university's end, as the hope is that a decision is looming.
With the 2025-2026 season just 12 days away, it would be nice to know if Bogavac will be cleared ahead of the season opener on November 3. While he might be sidelined on Friday due to injury (some who attended the scrimmage at Cherokee noticed that he didn't seem to be 100%), it would be beneficial for him to gain some real game experience with his new teammates, especially given how important of a piece he is to the puzzle for this group.
At this point, we all just need to be happy that he was cleared by the NCAA. The university will ensure that the situation is resolved over the next two weeks (at least we hope they do).
