RJ Davis went into NBA Summer League action needing to prove his worth.
As he's done throughout his entire basketball career, Davis made the most of his opportunity to compete.

The Los Angeles Lakers announced the signing of four players, including Davis. Each of these contracts is reportedly an Exhibit-10 deal, which is non-guaranteed but includes bonuses worth up to $85,300 if the player is waived and then spends at least 60 days with his team’s G League affiliate.
While there's a chance that Davis, along with the other signees, could work their way onto the NBA roster, it's more likely that they will be released before the season in order for them to compete for the Lakers' G-League squad.
Davis impressed enough during NBA Summer League to earn at least an extended look from the Lakers organization. With the deal, Davis will head to the Lakers' training camp and could potentially work his way onto the NBA roster for the start of the 2025-2026 season. However, it's more likely that the signees, including Davis, will be released before the season so they can compete for the Lakers' G League squad.
The former UNC basketball star saw a good amount of action over the Lakers' NBA Summer League schedule. He averaged 14.6 minutes, 6.1 points, and 2.6 assists per game, and although he didn't shoot the basketball at the level we know he's capable of, Davis was able to showcase the ability to serve as a facilitator and shot creator at the point guard position.
If the shots aren't falling, you have to show that you can figure out ways for others to score, especially at the lead guard position. Davis did enough to show the Lakers he has the ability to do so.
This will be a great opportunity for the former Tar Heel to gain more professional experience while competing for a roster spot. If he doesn't make the Lakers' active roster, it's possible that another team could come in and swoop him up, as opportunities at the G League will likely be present for the White Plains, New York native.
The journey continues for RJ Davis, as once again he's looking to prove that he does belong in this league.
