The Darryn Peterson drama seems to take a new turn every day.
On Wednesday night, the latest edition of college basketball's greatest saga occurred, as Peterson, widely viewed as the potential No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, checked himself out of the game early in the second half and did not return.
In case you missed it, here's the video.

Peterson has been limited during what will be his lone season at Kansas. The highly-touted freshman has missed 11 games due to various reasons, and has made it a habit of checking himself out, regardless of the score or the importance of the game for the Jayhawks.
This whole situation has been a mess, and Bill Self has grown frustrated with it as well. What it should remind UNC fans is how lucky we are to have a star like Caleb Wilson.
Stars are not all built alike
Darryn Peterson has zero interest in competing at the collegiate level.
In fact, this dude probably never unpacked his bags, knowing it was simply a stop along the way toward him becoming a top NBA Draft pick this year.
While Peterson is doing anything he physically can to not play, Caleb Wilson is chomping at the bit to return, as a left-hand fracture hasn't kept the Tar Heels' star from continuing to work on his game as he rehabs from injury.

Now, this just isn't limited to Wilson. Look around the country- there are plenty of top-tier stars who are laying it all out on the line for their respective schools. Darius Acruff, who was in a walking boot two days prior to Arkansas' double-overtime loss to Alabama, scored 49 points while logging a ton of minutes, refusing to miss time due to the injury.

Stars are not all built the same
Imagine being a fan of a specific program and being overly-excited to watch arguably the best prospect the school has ever had play for the team?
Now, imagine how deflating that is in a situation like Peterson's.
Tar Heel fans should use this as a reminder of just how lucky we are to have Caleb Wilson. He isn't your typical "one-and-done" student-athlete: he has been fully invested in the University of North Carolina since arriving last summer.
Although he can't currently play, Wilson is being the leader we all knew he could be. His teammates success is just as important as his, as how many superstars would be on the bench standing the entire game, celebrating his team while also providing some feedback to help his teammates improve.
Caleb Wilson is truly one of one, and we are so lucky to have him in Chapel Hill.
