The 2024-2025 college basketball regular season has come to an end, as the field is set for this year's ACC Tournament.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program have earned the No. 5 seed among the field, as they will begin their quest toward a ACC Tournament title on Wednesday, March 12.

North Carolina awaits the winner of the meeting between the No. 12-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the No. 13-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers. The Tar Heels will take on the winner of that game in a 2:30 meeting at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

With their victory over the Tar Heels, Duke claimed sole possession of the ACC regular season crown. Louisville, Clemson and Wake Forest earned double-byes as well, as the top four seeds will not have to play until Thursday in the quarterfinals.

North Carolina defeated both of its potential second round matchups at least once in the regular season. The Tar Heels pulled off a narrow 74-73 victory over Notre Dame in South Bend while splitting the regular season series with Pittsburgh (with each team winning on their home courts).

If the Tar Heels win their second round matchup, they'd be matched up with Wake Forest in the quarterfinal round. During the regular season, the Tar Heels suffered a one-point loss to the Demon Deacons, a game that many felt North Carolina let slip away.

The UNC basketball program's NCAA Tournament hopes are hanging on by a thread, as a deep run in this year's ACC Tournament seems to be the only way they find their way into the field. A potential rematch with Duke in the semifinals would be the only potential Quad 1 game on that side of the bracket for the Tar Heels, as a third meeting with the Blue Devils would be a major "must-win" for Hubert Davis' team.
