The "Biscuit Boys" have a whole-new look this season, as some of the fan favorites who helped secure fans delicious biscuits are no longer with the program.

As sad as it is to see them go, the UNC basketball program has a fresh set of newcomers who aim to help share the wealth.

Our UNC basketball player previews for the 2024-2025 season begin with this group of players, as it's important that you get to know them a bit before they begin their Tar Heel careers.

Who are the "Biscuit Boys" ?

Elijah Davis: 6-foot-3 guard senior from Chapel Hill, North Carolina (transfer from Lynchburg)- son of head coach Hubert Davis

Russell Hawkins- 6-foot-1 sophomore from Charlotte, North Carolina

John Holbrook- 6-foot-8 forward from Hickory, North Carolina

Dante Mayo Jr.- 6-foot-1 freshman from Gaithersburg, Maryland

Now, let's not think that these guys are just roster fillers. Davis comes to North Carolina after playing in 49 games over three seasons at Lynchburg, while Hawkins has family ties to the university and serves as another talented guard option.

During his high school career, Holbrook led Hickory High School to an incredible 31-1 record, averaging 14.6 points and 7.4 rebounds during his senior season. Mayo was an all-state selection and the Montgomery County Player of the Year during his senior season, leading his county in scoring at 19.5 points per game. He's also Richard Montgomery High School's all-time leading scorer with 1,287 career points.

What to Expect

These student-athletes work hard on a daily basis. They might not play as much come game day as other Tar Heels, but they put in the same effort to ensure that the team is ready to compete throughout the season.

When it comes time to clinch biscuits, expect these guys to be ready to answer the call.

Bold Prediction

I expect this group to secure biscuits at LEAST 3 times in front of the Smith Center crowd this upcoming season.

The hope is that it will be much more than that!
