The UNC women's basketball program battled but came up short, losing to No. 2-ranked UConn on Friday night in Greensboro.

One of the bright spots for the Tar Heels was the return of one of their key players. This individual made the most of her season debut, earning our Tar Heel of the Game Award.

Indya Nivar

Nivar was inserted into the starting lineup for her debut, finishing the night with 15 points to go along with 9 rebounds in 32 minutes of action.

If it wasn't for Nivar, this game could've been much more lopsided. The junior from Apex, North Carolina got off to a very hot start, essentially keeping the Tar Heels in the game through the first quarter of action.

With the way Paige Bueckers was shooting the basketball early on, the Tar Heels were fortunate that Nivar got off to a hot start as well.

As we saw in spurts a season ago, Nivar can impact the game in a variety of ways. While it was unfortunate that she missed the start of the season due to injury, the good news is that she's back on the court and is ready to help the UNC women's basketball program win some games this season.
