Like a good neighbor... State Farm is there!

With the ever-changing landscape of college athletics, universities around the country are able to benefit by premium sponsorship opportunities. By allowing a brand to showcase their logo in various places around campus, it helps provide the given school with funding that can be put back into their respective athletic programs.

Back in May, Rick Barakat, UNC's chief revenue officer, said they'd be adding field logos at Kenan Stadium, the home of the UNC football program. The university has also explored adding a corporate naming rights sponsor, but that is still a work in progress.

The field logos are apparently set, as Colby Groce shared the below image of Kenan Stadium with the State Farm logos gracing the newly-installed grass surface.

Given the hype surrounding the UNC football program in year one of the Bill Belichick era, it's safe to say that the university earned a pretty penny for this sponsorship deal. Playing in a handful of nationally televised games, State Farm will have the opportunity to showcase their logo to a wide-range of viewers, a move that should help their already successful insurance business grow even more in the future.

For North Carolina, it makes a ton of sense to sell on-field advertising to interested companies. The need to earn athletic revenue is at an all-time high, as the university aims to profit off its legendary brand, especially with Hall of Fame head coach Bill Belichick taking over the football program.

There will be more sponsorship deals like this one to come, and it will be interesting to see what other companies or brands find some real estate in Chapel Hill.
