Update: October 10- 1:20 PM
The ESPN broadcast announced that Cost has been ruled out for the rest of the day due to what is being described as a knee injury.
Original Story
A frightening scene unfolded in the back of the end zone involving UNC defensive back Kaleb Cost.
Cost crashed hard into the concrete wall behind the end zone, an area that appeared to have limited padding, before remaining on the ground. The impact was violent enough to raise immediate concern for Cost as the Tar Heels waited to hear about his condition.
#UNC DB Kaleb Cost just smacked into the concrete wall in the back of the end zone. It doesn't look like it's very well-padded.

Cost launched his helmet while on the ground and it flew into the crowd, nearly taking a lady's head off in the first row.
Cost was able to walk off the field under his own power, but you could tell that he was in a significant amount of pain. The ESPN broadcast refused to show the replay, admitting that it was a grueling injury.
An Atlanta, Georgia native, Cost has appeared in 41 games with the UNC football program since arriving on campus in 2023. He's recorded 91 solo tackles, assisted on an additional 38 while also having three interceptions and 14 passes defensed on his career stat line.
A proven veteran in the secondary, Cost is a key piece of UNC's defense. Though he's spent much of his career playing nickel, Cost is a versatile defensive back who can fill multiple roles in the secondary. Now in his senior season, the hope is that this injury isn't as severe as it looked in real time.
The Keeping It Heel team will continue to update this post when more information on Kaleb Cost's injury is announced.
