Saturday's turnout at Kenan Stadium shows that Tar Heel fans are ready for basketball

It appears that the fan base doesn't want to waste their time at Kenan Stadium anymore this season.

It's been a rough season for the UNC football program, as Tar Heel fans have seen enough.

After most of the UNC faithful rapidly departed Kenan Stadium in the second quarter of their most recent home game, a blowout loss to Clemson, the crowd on-hand on Saturday afternoon ahead of the matchup with No. 16-ranked Virginia showed that most fans are simply done with wasting their time.

The photo above, taken by Michael Koh of WCHL, was posted about 10 minutes prior to kick-off. Sure, some fans made late entry into the stadium, but there were plenty of empty seats available across the entire field.

Even though the program is struggling, you would think that fans would at least go to do something on a Saturday afternoon that produced decent fall weather.

What makes it worse is this: the UNC football program is actually competing against a Power 5 opponent!

Maybe the lack of fans in the seats is motivating this team to play harder. It would be quite wild if the Tar Heels can secure an upset victory over the Cavaliers, as it would be a statement from the program that those fans who gave up on the program should stay right where they are for Saturdays to come.
