RJ Davis made the most of his final opportunity in NBA Summer League action.

The former UNC basketball star saved his best performance for last, scoring 17 points off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers. He connected on six of his 11 shots from the floor, including three of five from three-point range, and added three assists in the Lakers' loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Davis played a summer league high 25+ minutes, making the most of his extended opportunity. He likely would've played more if it wasn't for an ankle injury that forced him to leave the game in the fourth quarter.

While Davis didn't necessarily find his groove during NBA Summer League action, his final performance is one that allows him to end on a good note. Playing on an Exhibit 10 contract, Davis' status is uncertain heading into the 2025-2026 season, as this week of games was essentially a tryout for him and dozens of other players fighting for a roster spot.

Hopefully, Davis' sample size is enough to earn him a contract with an NBA squad.

The most likely scenario for Davis would be an opportunity to play in the G League. If he plays well, a two-way contract could certainly be in play, allowing him to spend time on an NBA roster while refining his skills at the G League level.

Fans of the UNC basketball program know what RJ Davis is capable of doing on a basketball court. While his size and age tend to act as negatives against him, Davis plays the game with a lot of heart and makes up for it with his scoring ability and toughness, as an NBA team would be wise to take a chance on him in some capacity.

Davis has put together his audition tape. Now, it's time to see if it was enough to land a roster spot.
