RJ Davis, the reigning Jerry West Award winner, has once again earned a spot on the award's midseason watch list for the 2024-2025 season.

The fifth-year graduate student is one of 10 players to earn a spot on the list. Former teammate Caleb Love (now playing at Arizona), earned a spot on the list as well.

Since its inception in 2014-2015, no one has won this award in back-to-back seasons. Davis has the chance to make history as the only repeat winner, as he's already the only UNC basketball player to take home the award to begin with.

Although his final season with the UNC basketball program hasn't necessarily gone as planned, Davis is still regarded as one of the country's top talents. Through 23 games, the reigning ACC Player of the Year is averaging 17.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per-game. His overall shooting numbers have taken a hit, especially from beyond-the-arc, as North Carolina's offense lost a ton of star power from a season ago. This has allowed teams to focus more on No. 4, making it tougher for the consensus First-Team All-American to get open looks.

Even though his numbers have taken a bit of a hit, it shouldn't take away from everything Davis has accomplished as a member of the UNC basketball program. He's been an asset to the program since he originally stepped foot on campus, making a tremendous impact that will be remembered for quite some time.
