RJ Davis, the reigning Jerry West Award winner, has once again earned a spot on the award's watch list for the 2024-2025 season.

Since its inception in 2014-2015, no one has won this award in back-to-back seasons. Davis has the chance to make history as the only repeat winner if he can replicate his success during his final season with the UNC basketball program.

Davis isn't a stranger to preseason recognition. He was recently named the ACC Preseason Player of the Year and was a unanimous pick for the Preseason All-ACC First Team. This comes following his incredible senior season, which resulted in an ACC regular-season title for the Tar Heels and ACC Player of the Year honors for Davis.

A consensus first-team All-American a season ago, Davis was simply a "walking bucket," averaging 21.2 points per game while shooting 42.8% from the floor, including nearly 40% from three-point range.

Davis is the engine that leads the UNC basketball program, as his success throughout his first four seasons in Chapel Hill as earned him the reputation of being among the top players in the country. Now, Davis has some unfinished business to take care of, as his individual success will very much coincide with how the Tar Heels fare during the 2024-2025 season.

Davis and the UNC basketball program open up the 2024-2025 season on Monday, November 4 when they host Elon at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
