The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Drake Maye-led New England Patriots on Sunday by a score of 28-22. While the Patriots came out on the wrong side of the scoreboard, it wasn't due to quarterback play, as Maye put together another strong outing.

The former UNC football star completed 30 of his 40 passing attempts for 282 yards and two touchdowns. As we saw him due plenty during his time in Chapel Hill, Maye found ways to get multiple guys involved, connecting on completions with eight different receivers.

After the game, Rams head coach Sean McVay was asked about what he saw from Maye, and had very positive things to say about the young quarterback:

“He looks like a stud… You can see the impact that he has on his teammates. The way people talk about him here. He looks like he’s gonna be a special player for a long time, and he gave us fits today.”

Although he's only 38-years-old, McVay is a coaching veteran in the NFL, having served as the Rams head coach since 2017. He's named the AP Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm and led the Rams to a Super Bowl title in 2021. It's safe to say McVay knows a thing or two about good football players.

Based on his comments, McVay believes that Drake Maye falls into that category.

While the Patriots are in rebuilding mode, it's assuring for them to know they at least have their future franchise quarterback in place. Even with a lackluster roster around him, Drake Maye continues to be the star that he's always been, serving as a true leader both on and off the field for the Patriots organization.
