Travis Burgess' senior season of high school football has abruptly come to an end.

The UNC football commit, regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in the Class of 2026, announced on social media early on Thursday morning that he will miss the rest of the 2025 season due to injury. He suffered the injury last Friday in Grayson's second game of the season.

Burgess shared the below post revealing the news.

This is very disappointing news, especially considering it was Burgess' last season of high school competition. After a four touchdown performance in his team's season opener, Burgess was already leading Grayson to national prominence, but now he'll have to watch from the sidelines as his road to recovery begins.

Without a doubt, Burgess will take this rehab process in stride, looking to be as close to 100% as he can before arriving in Chapel Hill to begin his college football career. This is a minor setback for a major comeback, as Burgess has been someone who has defied the odds before (especially regarding his sky-rocket rise in the recruiting rankings due to his stellar play).

While some Tar Heel fans have enjoyed watching Burgess in action early on this season, we'll just have to wait for him to arrive in Chapel Hill to see him take the field once again. We can promise you that it will be well worth the wait, as the UNC football program has a star in the making at the quarterback position.

We wish Travis Burgess the best of luck toward a speedy recovery, and look forward to him arriving on campus over the next few months!
