Vance Honeycutt joins exclusive UNC baseball company
It's no secret that Vance Honeycutt is good at the sport of baseball.
There's also no doubt that Honeycutt is on the path to not only being considered one of the best to ever wear the Carolina Blue, but also to be a very high draft pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.
On Tuesday, Honeycutt blasted a grand slam that not only gave the UNC baseball program the lead, but put the junior centerfield among elite company in program history.
Honeycutt is now just the second Diamond Heel ever to join the 40-50 club. For those who don't know what that means, Honeycutt has now hit 40 home runs and stolen 50 bases as a member of the UNC baseball program. He joins legendary Jarrett Shearin as the only two Diamond Heels to ever accomplish the feat.
The Diamond Heels' centerfielder is that rare combination of power and speed. Yes, he can flat-out crush the baseball, but he is also a menace on the base paths, forcing opposing pitchers to focus their attention on him regardless of what base he's on.
And to think: we're JUST at the start of his junior season. There's a very good chance that Honeycutt can become the first 50-50 player in program history by the end of this season.
Honeycutt has made a name for himself in Chapel Hill, as he's easily one of the best overall players that the country has to offer. As he continues to reach individual milestones, Honeycutt hopes to lead this year's team through a deep NCAA Tournament run to Ohama.
