When you think of the word "dominate," you have to include the 2024 Team USA U17 women's basketball squad.

Lanie Grant, an incoming freshman for the UNC women's basketball program, helped guide Team USA to a Gold Medal in Mexico. Team USA defeated Canada on Sunday night to capture the sixth FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup title in program history.

This group of athletes made it look easy, as they dominated the competition throughout tournament play. Some of the stats featured in the below tweet are just insane to think about, especially the margin of victory that they were able to accomplish.

Grant is no stranger to international play, as this is her second consecutive summer in which she competed for Team USA. Both summers resulted in her returning home with some gold, as she'll now head to Chapel Hill to prepare for her first season with the UNC women's basketball program.

A starter in all seven contests for Team USA, Grant had to showcase her elite student-athlete skills while in Mexico. Having re-classified to join the UNC women's basketball program a year early, Grant had to finish her classes in order to earn her high school diploma, as her teammates made sure to celebrate the occasion with an international version of her high school graduation.

Playing alongside the best talent in the world, Grant gained some more valuable experience in international play before beginning her college career this fall. Based on what we've seen from Grant thus far, it's safe to say that the re-classified incoming freshman will be more than ready to compete at the collegiate level.
