When Deja Kelly announced that she wouldn't be returning for a fifth season with the UNC women's basketball program, the attention focused on how Courtney Banghart and company would look to fill the void.

On Sunday, the Tar Heels reeled in a talented guard from the transfer portal, as Arizona State transfer Trayanna Crisp has committed to North Carolina.

Crisp is a Goodyear, Arizona native who spent her first two collegiate seasons with the Sun Devils. After being used mostly as a reserve during her freshman season, the 5-foot-8 guard transitioned into the starting lineup as a sophomore, averaging just over 34 minutes per contest.

With more playing time came an increase in production, as she improved in essentially every aspect of her game. She finished her sophomore season averaging 12.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 40.6% from the floor. Her shooting percentages (both from the floor and from three-point range) went up by close to 10 percent, as she proved she can knock down shots at an effective rate.

This is a very nice addition for Courtney Banghart and the Tar Heels, as they've now added two guards via the transfer portal. After a season in which guard depth was rather limited, Crisp, along with fellow transfer Grace Townsend, hope to revamp this unit heading into the new season.

North Carolina's roster is going to look a bit different, but there's still a lot of talent throughout. The hope is that the new additions (including the incoming freshman class) can help the program continue upon its recent success as they hope to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament this upcoming season.
