UNC Women's Basketball lands commitment from a five-star Class of 2025 star
Courtney Banghart must be really good at fishing.
Why, you ask? Well, the UNC women's basketball program's head coach is great at reeling in some top-tier talents!
Just days after earning a commitment from five-star Taliyah Henderson, the UNC women's basketball program followed it up with another five-star addition: this one being 6-foot-1 wing Nyla Brooks.
Brooks, the No. 14 ranked player in the Class of 2025 according to ESPN HoopGurlz, was initially committed to Tennessee. After coaching changes in Knoxville, Brooks elected to re-open her recruitment, as this led her to find that Chapel Hill was the right place for her.
The Alexandria, Virginia native chose the UNC women's basketball program over fellow finalists Georgia, Maryland, and Tennessee.
In an interview with Dushawn London of 247Sports, Brooks spoke about why she ultimately chose North Carolina. She mentioned a few factors that played into her decision, including the school's proximity to her home, her parents' fondness of the school as well as the fit academically (as she aspires to study Sports Management).
This is another fantastic addition for the UNC women's basketball program as their 2025 recruiting class is starting to really shape up nicely. With two five-star talents already committed to the program, the question remains:
What more big fish can Courtney Banghart reel in?
Based on the early results, more may be on the way before this recruiting class comes to a close.
