UNC Women's Basketball earns spot in top-10 for five-star Class of 2026 prospect
Oliviyah Edwards is one of the top prospects that the Class of 2026 has to offer.
Currently, the Tacoma, Washington native is regarded by ESPN HoopGurlz as the No. 7 overall ranked player in her graduating class. As evident by her recruiting ranking, Edwards has drawn a ton of attention but has elected to focused on 10 programs as she narrows down her recruitment.
The UNC women's basketball program is still in the mix, as they are one of four ACC programs that are still in contention. As per her above social media post, the following programs are still active in her recruitment:
Duke
Florida
Florida State
LSU
North Carolina
Notre Dame
South Carolina
Tennessee
USC
Washington
Sure, there's plenty of time to worry about this respective recruiting cycle, as these players are set to become juniors in high school this upcoming fall. However, college programs want to get a jump start on recruiting the top available talent, as the above programs are among the many who have tried to lure Edwards to their university in the future.
The 6-foot-3 forward would be a big-time addition for the future of the UNC women's basketball program. Since arriving in Chapel Hill, Courtney Banghart has proven to be an elite recruiter, so it wouldn't be a surprise at all to see the UNC women's basketball program being considered among the serious contenders in this particular recruitment.
As of now, the field is down to 10. The hope is that Oliviyah Edwards will be Chapel Hill bound once her recruitment comes to a close.
