The UNC women's basketball program has earned a spot in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, as their placement in the field was quickly announced once the release show began.

North Carolina is heading to Columbia, South Carolina for their first round matchup as they'll take on the No. 9-seeded Michigan State in the Albany 1 regional.

If the Tar Heels can defeat the Spartans in the first round, No. 1 overall seed South Carolina (32-0 on the season) will most likely be awaiting them.

A potential North Carolina/South Carolina matchup would be a rematch from earlier in the season, a game in which the Gamecocks prevailed 65-58 in Chapel Hill back on November 30. Of course, that was quite some time ago, as these two teams are in much different places then they were a few months back.

Before we worry about the future, you must worry about the present, as Michigan State is the first obstacle to overcome. The Lady Spartans come in with a 22-8 record, finishing 12-6 in conference play. They had four players average double-digit point totals this season, including Julia Ayrault, who led the team in points (15.4 per game), rebounds (7.2 per game), and blocks (64)

With some time off to rest and refresh, it will interesting to see if the break did any wonders for the UNC women's basketball program. While dealing with so many injuries, the rest could've been good for this group considering how many minutes the main core of players have had to log, especially during the second half of the 2023-2024 season.

The bracket is now officially set: it's time to dance!
