UNC Women's Basketball connection takes home "Assist of the Week" honors
One of the best highlights of the UNC women's basketball program's Sunday afternoon victory over Virginia was courtesy of the team's senior captains.
While running the floor, Deja Kelly found Alyssa Ustby for what ended up being a highlight-reel, alley-oop style play. Kelly led Ustby to the basketball with what ended up being a perfect pass, and Ustby was able to finish while flying through the air.

Isabel Gonzalez of CBS Sports appreciated the fine play from the UNC women's basketball program's seniors, as she tabbed it as the "Assist of the Week" for last week's action.
"This just shows how much chemistry Kelly and Alyssa Ustby share. It was a perfectly accurate pass that Ustby caught in midair to give us one of the coolest highlights of the week.Β
Kelly recorded a season-high 27 points in the Tar Heels' 81-68 win over Virginia on Sunday, while Ustby added 17 points and 12 rebounds -- her eighth double-double of the season and 30th of her career." - Isabel Gonzalez, CBS Sports
This highlight is a friendly reminder of two things:
Let's start with Kelly, who continues to prove that her passing ability is one of her most underrated qualities. Whether she's scoring at a high level or not (in most cases, she is!), Kelly has shown that she can create opportunities for her teammates, as evident by this beautiful pass.
In regard to Ustby, this is just another prime example of the high motor she consistently plays with. There's not many players (if any!) who play the sport with most hustle, as the senior forward is consistently moving down the court to create opportunities for her team to score the basketball.
This was a tremendous play that got the crowd at Carmichael Arena hyped up, and is well-deserving of being recognized as the assist of the week.
