Things are really starting to heat up in the recruitment of five-star guard Destiny Jackson.

Jackson, the No. 24 overall player in the Class of 2025 (according to Hoop Gurlz), is down to five schools in her recruitment. Courtney Banghart and the UNC women's basketball program are very much in the mix as they hope to land a commitment from the five-star talent from Illinois.

Talia Goodman of On3 recently spoke to Jackson about her five finalists: North Carolina, Arizona, Illinois, West Virginia, and Baylor, as the rising senior said that she is nearing a final decision.

Here's what Jackson had to say specifically about the UNC women's basketball program:

“My experience with them has been great. Ever since they offered me, they’ve been consistent. The head coach made it her business to be on the phone with my mom the first week they offered and I really appreciate that. Even though they were late to the race, they still became very consistent with it. When I went out there, it just seemed like they genuinely like each other, like they aren’t faking it. They genuinely like being around each other.”

Coming from someone who follows the program closely, Jackson's statement is simply spot-on.

Courtney Banghart is a family-minded head coach, as she goes above and beyond to recruit not only the student-athlete but their family as well. When it comes to team camaraderie, Banghart seems to always put together a group that genuinely likes to be around one another, which is a huge benefit once you take the court and play games.

There's steep competition for Jackson, as she also spoke very highly about the other finalists that she is choosing from, but you have to like where the UNC women's basketball program stands in this recruitment as they've put the full-court press on in hopes of bringing this elite talent to Chapel Hill.
