UNC Football Program's 2024 Pro Day Preview
The attention will be focused on Chapel Hill on Thursday afternoon as the UNC football program will host its annual Pro Day ahead of the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
Scouts from various teams will be on-hand scoping out the talent that the UNC football program has to offer, as there are quite a few players that will be active participants.
Oh yeah, and Drake Maye will be participating as well.
Along with the above listed players, four former Tar Heels, Chris Collins, Beau Corrales, Dae Dae Hollins, and Emery Simmons are returning to campus to participate in drills.
Of course, a lot of eyes will be on Maye, who many feel will be a top-five selection in this year's draft. Maye elected not to participate in drills at the NFL Combine, so this will be a great opportunity for scouts and NFL executives to see his athleticism and talent on display.
However, Maye is not the only participant. The Tar Heels will have a total of 15 players competing on Pro Day. Some other notable participants include Tomari Fox, Amari Gainer, Corey Gaynor, Cedric Gray, Myles Murphy, and Tez Walker.
Gray and Walker are on that second tier of UNC football prospects for this NFL Draft class, as both are expected to be Day Two or Day Three selections. Given what we've seen from them during their time in Chapel Hill, both have the potential to be impact players from the jump for whichever NFL team takes a chance on them.
For the student-athletes that aren't currently drawing much attention yet, Thursday's event is a great opportunity to change that. With a strong performance on pro day, one (or more) of these players can catch the attention of NFL teams, as the potential of being drafted or even signed as an undrafted free agent could come their way.
The hope is that these players can prove that they deserve a chance to play on Sundays this fall.
