UNC Football program earns commitment from four-star defensive lineman
The UNC football program made a nice addition to its 2025 recruiting class on Friday, as four-star defensive lineman Austin Alexander announced that he will be heading to North Carolina.
A Burlington, Kentucky native, Alexander currently is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 3 overall prospect in his home state. In addition, Alexander is viewed as the No. 27 overall defensive lineman in the class, as there's plenty of time for him to still jump up the rankings.
Alexander is a two-way star at the high school level, as he's coming off a monster junior season at Cooper High School. He totaled 67 receptions for 1,138 yards and 19 touchdowns on offense, while recording 81 tackles, 19 sacks, an interception and two fumble recoveries defensively.
Defense has been the focal point of Alexander's recruitment, as Division I programs have been actively pursuing him as an edge rusher. That's the position that Alexander will likely play once he arrives in Chapel Hill.
The UNC football program now has eight players committed to the Class of 2025, as Alexander becomes the third defensive player to join the recruiting class. Alexander is also one of three four-star talents that are currently a part of this talented group.
Mack Brown and the UNC football program are far from done with regard to this respective recruiting class, as there is still plenty of time for some more talent to join the mix over the next couple of months. We'll have to see if Brown and company can continue the recruiting success to help build a strong roster for 2025 and beyond.
